Alvin "Old Man" Hixson passed thru the pearly gates on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born on March 18, 1951. In his 70 years on earth, he made lots of memories with kids as Santa. He was always one to never pass judgement on anyone he met. If you ever asked how he was doing, his reply was finer than a frog hair. He would always tell you after a visit to come back and see me or why go home? You go there when you cannot go anywhere else. In his years at Cleveland Ready-Mix, he was known as a jokester. Mr. Hixson was raised in Grasshopper, then moved to Greasy Creek after marrying Joyce. He was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church for 38 years.

Alvin is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Louis and Flora Ellen Hixson; in-laws, Noah and Gerry Green.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Joyce Green Hixson; children, Shelly (Sandy) Wild, Stephanie Hixson and Chris Hixson; grandchildren, Alley Wild, Addison Carden, Christopher Hixson, Jesse Hixson, Sydney Hixson and Levi Hixson; brothers, Net (Sheila) Hixson and Nathaniel Hixson; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Froney) Rymer, Denise (David) Waddell, Renee (Allen) Martin; nieces and nephews, Amanda Hixson, Jacob Hixson, Brooke Hixson, Tiffany Blackwell, Chris Blackwell, Daven Blackwell, Caden Blackwell, Jayson Waddell, Noah Waddell, Kitt Waddell, Cory Dobbs, Lance Dobbs, Samantha Welch, Matt Welch, Lily Welch and Dylan "Bubba" Cheatham; special cousin, Calvin Blair; special neighbor friends, Taggen Lipps, DJ Williams and Becca Calfee.

The family would like to thank Tennova Home Health Care workers, Jenny and Keith; Tennova MICU nurses, especially Deborah McClure, Dr. Bacha, Dr. Khatri and sweet friend, Dr. Knabb.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Blackwell, Daven Blackwell, Dylan Cheatham, Cory Dobbs, Matt Welch, Jayson Waddell and Noah Waddell serving as pallbearers. Caden Blackwell and Taggen Lipps will serve as Honorary pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton.
