Anita Merrell Lee, age 78, of Reliance, passed away, Thursday, January 31, 2013 in an Etowah hospital. She was of a member of Hiawassee Union Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyal Merrell and Beulah Crumley Merrell and sisters, Oleta Burchfield and Willonell Greene. She is survived by her children, Gary Lee of Maryville, Karen Key and, Dexter Key of Delano, Jill Merrell and Greg Merrell of Reliance; granddaughters, Halee and Holly Merrell of Reliance; sisters, Elizabeth (Liz) Carroll and husband, M.B. of Delano, Vondell Morgan and husband, Henry of Reliance and Mary Allen and husband, Lewis of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Benny Thomas officiating. Interment will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
