Bessie Carney Lee, age 91, a resident of Ocoee, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 in a local hospital. She was a member of Springtown Baptist Church. Mrs. Lee was the daughter of the late Morris and Elizabeth Brooks Carney and was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Lee, a daughter, Cora Laverne Lee, son-in-law, Allen Martin, and four brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her four children and spouses: Leonard and Mary Lee of Ocoee, Millie and Jim Wright of Ripley, Mississippi, Vesta Martin of Benton and Marchie and Will Cain of Englewood; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Edna Price of Reliance; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Rymer officiating. Interment was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Morgan Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service.
