Brenda Childers, 73, a resident of Benton, departed this life peacefully on August 13, 2026, with her family at her side.

She was born on March 22, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Henry and Dorthea Brown Mullins Sr. Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family most. She was a substitute teacher at Benton Elementary School for many years. The years of helping others and nurturing our youth made her well known throughout the community and will be deeply missed by all who had the blessings of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Henry and Dorthea Mullins Sr., she was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Mullins Jr., and a close family friend, Arden Stough.

Left to cherish the many memories include her loving family, her husband, Willie Childers; three sons, Willie (Melissa) Childers Jr, Richard (Wendy) Childers, Henry (Carrie) Childers; one daughter, Mary (Ronnie) West; her sister, Linda Orue; special sister-in-law, Ruthie Young; grandchildren, Angela Shelton, Ashley Childers, Brittany Childers, Christian (Stephanie) Elliott, Brenda (Landon) West-Wood, Henry Childers Jr; great-grandson, Roman Elliott.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Joyce Pack officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Memorial Gardens, with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
