Obituary

Carolyn Yvonne “Connie” Trew Evans, age 75, passed away on October 11, 2026. Born on November 3, 1950, in Cleveland, Tennessee, Carolyn spent much of her life in Benton, Tennessee, where she built a life centered around her faith, family, hard work, and love for others.

Carolyn was a quiet woman, but once you got to know her, you quickly learned what mattered most to her. She was devoted to God and her family, and she loved and cared for them with an unsurpassable love. Her family, her faith, and caring for others were at the center of her life. She had a tremendous heart, a strong will, a determined spirit, and compassion and loyalty that never wavered in anything she did.

As the eldest of her siblings, Carolyn was not only a sister but also a best friend to them. She was always there when they needed her, offering love, support and guidance. She cared for her father and mother during their final days, giving them the same devotion and tenderness she had shown throughout her life. Carolyn also lovingly helped care for her mother-in-law, Louise Evans, whenever she was needed. Caring for family was something Carolyn did with compassion, devotion, and love.

Carolyn shared an especially close and meaningful bond with her nieces and nephews, loving them as if they were her own children. Being their aunt was a role she treasured, and each of them held a special place in her heart. She celebrated their joys, cared about their struggles, and wanted to be there whenever they needed her. Her love for them was genuine and unwavering, and she took great pride in the family they shared. She was more than an aunt; she was a source of love, comfort, support, and guidance. The memories they made with her and the love she poured into their lives will remain a cherished part of their stories. That love extended to her great-nieces and great-nephews and her great=great-nieces and great-great-nephews, all of whom were part of the family she held so dear. Family meant everything to Carolyn, and her love reached across generations.

Carolyn also shared a special relationship with her husband’s sister, Tanna Evans. Their bond was meaningful to her, and Tanna held a special place in Carolyn’s heart.

Carolyn held a special place in her son-in-law Jimmy Renner’s family. She shared a loving relationship with them. They were an important part of her extended family, and the love, care and memories they shared with her will always be treasured.

Carolyn was someone who paid close attention to detail and had a clever, artistic eye for planning and decorating. She took great joy in creating beautiful surroundings and putting together outfits for her family. She loved coordination and had a special gift for bringing everything together. Whether she was decorating a room, choosing the perfect outfit, preparing a meal, or creating something special, she put thought, creativity, and love into every detail.

Carolyn found joy in working alongside her late husband, Marion “Cotton” Evans, building their businesses and creating a life together. She was the owner of Evans Septic Tank Service and CNC Cabins, as well as the former owner of Cotton’s Place. She was the heartbeat behind the family’s businesses, contributing her time, strength, vision, and unwavering dedication. Through these businesses, she demonstrated her determination, strong work ethic, and commitment to serving others.

She also loved discovering new recipes, cooking, crafting, and serving her community. Whether she was working, creating something special, preparing a meal, or helping someone through a difficult time, she gave her time and love wholeheartedly.

Above all, Carolyn’s greatest joy was loving and caring for her daughter, son-in-law, grandson, granddaughter-in-law, and great-grandson. Ther were her life, and she lived to care for them. Her family was the center of her world.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Nikki Evans Renner, and son-in-law, Jimmy Renner; her grandson, Evan Renner, and granddaughter-in-law, Riley Richey Renner; her precious great-grandson, Rexton Renner; her sister, Debbie Trew Pankey, and her husband, Larry; her beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; her husband’s sister, Tanne Evans; her brother-in-law, Mike Cantrell (her late sister’s husband). She also leaves behind many dear friends who loved her and were blessed to be part of her life.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion “Cotton” Evans; her granddaughter, Emma Renner; her parents, Douglas Trew and Millie Lucille Land Trew; her mother-in-law, Louise Evans; her father-in-law, Time Evans; and her sister, Vickie Trew Cantrell.

Carolyn was a Christian woman whose Baptist faith was an important part of her life. She loved the Lord and trusted Him for guidance. Her faith was more than something she believed; it was something she wanted to share. She wanted everyone to know her Jesus and the love, hope, and comfort she found in Him.

Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, determination, creativity, hard work, compassion, loyalty, and faith. Her life was a testament to the importance of family, caring for others, working hard, and giving from the heart. Though her family will miss her more than words can express, the love she poured into their lives will remain with them always.

Her hands may be at rest, but the love she gave, the lives she touched, the beauty she created, the businesses she helped build, and the faith she shared will live on through the generations who follow her.
