October 12, 1937 – January 8, 2025
Charles "Dub" Adams, 87, of Delano, passed away, peacefully, at his residence on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 12, 1937, to the late Marvin Adams and Zella Wilcox Adams Rymer.
Dub was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Greasy Creek, TN. He was a deacon for 59 years where he attended church regularly and loved his church family. Dub drove a truck for 53 years, hauling heavy equipment and concrete. He had a clean driving record with no accidents or tickets. Dub took pride in his work and would tell stories of all the adventures he experienced, including hauling the first load of rock to build Carters Dam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Adams and Zella Wilcox Adams Rymer; stepfather, Lige Rymer; siblings, Sammy Adams and John Rymer.
Left to cherish the many memories include, his beloved wife, of 68 years, Ann Hood Adams. Together they have 6 sons, Charles R. Adams, Steve (Tonya) Adams, Tim (Pam) Adams, Kenneth (Kathy) Adams, Terry (Robert) Adams, Doug (Joann) Adams; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Merty (Betty) Rymer, Arvel (Ruth) Rymer, Dwight (Melody) Rymer, Carl (Shelia) Rymer, Froney (Sharon) Rymer; sisters, Betty (Bill) Cheatham, Edna (Paul) Burgess and Rose (Kenneth) Peels. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Maxwell officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Tucker, the staff at Amedisys Hospice and his niece, Tara Brewer, for their excellent and compassionate care shown to Dub.
