Columbus James "C.J." McDougal, 73, of Benton, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021, at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1948, to the late Bob and Lillie Bryant McDougal in Turtletown, Tennessee. Throughout life, C.J. had a love for life and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He had a great passion for watching western movies and his affectionate laugh will forever be remembered.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Evelyn Carter his siblings, Rita Adams, James McDougal, and Harold McDougal.
Left to continue his legacy include his beloved children, Gary (Marlena) Miller, Wanda (Ed) Greenlief, Nancy (Terry) Brackin, James McDougal, and Elizabeth Cronan; grandchildren, Zack Miller, Megan Bishop, Timmy Miller, Daniel Miller, David Greenlief, Donna Greenlief, Shyanne Brackin, Christy Brackin, Benjamin McDougal, Lola McDougal, Matthew Crisp, and Justin Cronan; siblings, Wanda (Charles) Elrod and Mike (Linda) McDougal; two great-grandchildren, Zander Miller and Callie Miller. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Ocoee Church of God with Pastor Mike Whitmire officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland Shed Cemetery with his family serving as pallbearers.
His family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the service at the church.
