Corliss S. Balkun, 60, a resident of Polk County, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 in a Chattanooga Hospital. She was a member of Ocoee Church of God and was a teacher's aide with the Everglades City Schools in Everglades, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Brandy Stiltner.

She is survived by her husband Alexander "Butch" Balkun of Delano, TN; her parents Odalph and Laverne Stokes; daughters: Anderia Price and husband, Tate of Delano, Carol Stiltner of Benton, TN, grandchildren: Deagan Price, Alexis Stiltner and Paige Stiltner; brothers and sisters: Hazel and Danny Mitchell of Chokoloskee, FL, Ervin and Lynn Stokes of Copeland, FL, Mike and Traci Stokes of Jerome, FL, Brett and Debbie Stokes of Everglades, Bart and Barbie Stokes of Chokoloskee, FL and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Barrett officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Benton Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Her family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service
