Danny Leon Moats, 57, a resident of the Chestuee Community passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in a Blount County Hospital. He was a member of the Chestuee Baptist Church and a member of the VFW of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, LaVaughn Moats and Michael J. Moats.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Exline Moats; three children and their spouses: Gary Moats and Donna Moats, Celina Bardan and Ricky Bardan, Danny Pilkey and Kia Pilkey; parents Clyde and Blanche Moats, all of the Chestuee Community; two brothers, Archie Moats of Tennessee and Edward Moats and wife Brenda Moats of Cleveland; two sisters, Thelma Hayes and husband Gary Hayes of Dalton Ga. and Golda Coward and husband Russell Coward of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Plumley officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestuee Baptist Church Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service.

His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
