Darlene Blackwell, 56, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her home. She was a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church. Darlene enjoyed being a part of Happy Hearts in Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Hoyt Clark and Maggie Louise Shelton Clark. Survivors include her son, Phillip Blackwell and Tauddy Laney of Old Fort; brother, Erskin Clark and wife, Faye of Cleveland; sisters, Charlene Bates and husband, Ronald of Benton and Melissa Edwards and husband, Jimmy of Cleveland; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Lee Ingram and the Reverend Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Cookson Creek Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
