Obituary

John "David" Adams, Jr. was born November 7, 1956 to John "Red" and Christine Goble Adams, the youngest of four children. He went to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Praise be to God that he is at rest, free of pain and suffering. David was a kind, compassionate man who loved his Lord and Savior, his family and friends. He loved with his whole heart and gave the best hugs.

Besides his parents, John and Christine Adams, he was preceded in death by his nephews Jason Cain and Rodney Adams; grandparents Austin and Ethel Goble, Issac and Mellie Adams; mother-in-law and father-in-law Sue and Jewell Ledford; brother-in-law Don Hatcher.

David is survived by his loving family, whom he adored, wife Kathy Ledford Adams, daughter Keri Sue Adams, sisters and brothers-in-law Kathy & David Godfrey; Earlene & Jon Lummus; Kay Adams; Candy Hatcher; Buck & Cathy Ledford; Jan & Len Bell. Nephews and nieces Travis, Kris, Hunter & Madison (T.J.) Godfrey, Dustin Shelton; Melinda, Eric & Emmett Dalton; Caleb, Jessica, Eli, Sophia and Landrum Cain; Richard White; Thomas, Lindsey & Jacob Bell; Chloe, Jeff, Asher, Joy, Clement & Ruthie Hanson; Willie, Allison, Waylon & Micah Ledford.

He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. It was an honor for him to be a part of the fellowship he loved. David was a career Millwright, working locally and throughout the United States. His talents were rewarded with the completion of many successful projects highlighting his craft. At the time of his death he was employed by Machine Works of Tennessee.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Gary Silvers officiating.  Travis Godfrey, Hunter Godfrey, Thomas Bell, Willie Ledford, Jordan Maynard, and Marcus Taylor will be serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to Beech Springs Baptist Church, P.O. Box 160, Old Fort, TN 37362. We would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of our Prayer Warriors who prayed without ceasing, the visits, telephone calls, texts, gifts, and the love we received during this tremendous loss. Heaven has gained a precious soul.

What Cancer Cannot Do: Cancer is so limited...It Cannot Cripple Love, It Cannot Shatter Hope, It Cannot Dissolve Faith, It Cannot Destroy Peace, It Cannot Kill Friendship, It Cannot Suppress Memories, It Cannot Silence Courage, It Cannot Invade the Soul, It Cannot Steal ETERNAL LIFE, It Cannot Conquer the Spirit.

Come unto me, all you are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
