Dixie Akin, 91, of Ocoee, TN passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at a Cleveland healthcare facility. She loved her family, cooking and quilting. She was a member of Tennga Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herman D. Akin; sisters, Nan Patterson and Bessie Burris.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Akin and wife, Stacey of Ocoee and John Akin and wife, Sherry of Benton; twin granddaughters, Kyra and Madison Akin.

The family extends a special "Thank You" to the caregivers at Brookdale Assisted Living in Cleveland, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Larry Chastain officiating. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 in Benton Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the funeral home prior to the service.
