Dorothy M. Shelton, 85, a resident of Benton, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009. She was a member of the Old Ocoee Baptist Church in Benton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Shelton; parents, Luther and Sallie Stephens Lawson; sister, Emma Lawson; Mae Goins; and brother, James Lawson. She is survived by grandchildren, Christy Hardin and husband, John and Chad Prueitt; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Emma Hardin and Cambree Prueitt, all of Benton; sister, Juanita Howard of Rosewell, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 7:00 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend W. L. Shipman officiating. Interment will be held Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11:00 at Zion Baptist Cemetery. The service will conclude with a White Dove Release Ceremony. Her family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 on Thursday, April 23 at the funeral home.
