Easley Henry Burgess, 83, a lifelong resident of Benton, TN, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of Benton Station Baptist Church, a local business owner, and a veteran of the Tennessee National Guards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Verdel Radford Burgess; brothers, Eugene and Lawrence Burgess; and sisters, Edith Wilson, Ethrey McConnel, Archie Brannon, and Cora Marr. Survivors include his wife, Reba Spence Burgess; daughter, Diane Wood and husband Joel of Hixson, TN; sons, Steve Burgess and wife Dana of Cleveland, TN, David Burgess of Benton,TN, and Lynn Burgess and wife Deborah of Benton, TN; a half-brother, J.W. Burgess of Cleveland, TN; and a half-sister, Lorene Gladson of Cleveland, TN. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Joel Jenkins and Reverend Joel Wood. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, in Benton Station Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, prior to the service at the funeral home.
