Edna Hopkins, 81, a resident of Delano, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, in an Etowah hospital. She was born August 29, 1927 in Turtletown, the daughter of the late Clint and Mary Stiles. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Hopkins, daughter, Mary Lois Hopkins Parker, grandson, Kevin Hopkins, brother, Bobby Stiles, and sister, Ellen Haney. Survivors include a special friend, Beecher Payne of Delano; son, Samuel Hopkins of Benton; sisters and brothers: Ella Barber of Turtletown, Willene Fields of Alpharetta, GA., Louise and Sanford Payne of Alpharetta, Jim and Jeanine Stiles of Turtletown, Buddy Stiles of Ellijay, GA and Charlie Stiles of Turtletown; grandchildren: Jane Jones and Jay Damoth, Brenda Nicholson Woods, Lee Nicholson, Renah and James Sanislo, and Travis Hopkins; great grandchildren: Monica Woods, Madison Woods, Andrew Jones, Garrett Jones, Tiffany Sanislo, and Nicholas Sanislo. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 10, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral home with Reverend Glen Stiles and Reverend Samuel Stiles officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Cemetery. Pall bearers include Wayne Hopkins, Jason Hopkins, Jay Damoth, Keith Dilbeck, David Savage, Andy Rymer, James Sanislo and Nicholas Sanislo.
