Elmer Hicks, 77, a resident of Delano, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009 in an Etowah hospital. He was a member of Towee Baptist Church in Springtown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Hicks and Venie Smith Hicks; son, Roger Hicks; brothers, Roy Hicks and Wilford Hicks and sister, Myrtle Dobbs. He is survived by his children: Robbie and Kathy Hicks of Reliance, Frances and Charles Mason, Debbie and Jeff Patterson all of Cleveland; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Hicks, Jr. of Reliance; sisters Imogene O'Neal of Copper Hill and Ida Sue and husband Frank Caudell of KY; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Campground Cemetery in Springtown with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
