Frances Hicks Mason, 51, of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday, January 27, 2010 while surrounded by her family. She was a faithful member of Old Ocoee Baptist Church in Benton. She was a wonderful Christian example of a wife, mother, daughter and sister. She was also an accomplished and much beloved teacher at South Polk Elementary for 31 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Hicks and brother, Roger Hicks. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles Mason of Cleveland; mother, Lorene Pless Merrell of Reliance; children, Richard Mason and wife, Brandi and Matthew Mason and wife, Tisha, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Brice, Chase, Lilly and Kimberly Mason, all of Cleveland; brother, Robbie Hicks and wife, Kathy of Reliance; and sister, Debbie Patterson and husband, Jeff of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Mason and the Reverend David Qualls officiating. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery with Jeff Patterson, Josh Patterson, Matthew Hicks, Jason Burger, Silas Mason and Ronnie Bivens serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 5:30:-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Saturday January 30, 2010 from 5:30-8:00 at the funeral home.
