Obituary

GW Moats, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in a local hospital. He was a member of Ocoee Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Moats was the son of the late General Moats and Elizabeth Sissom Moats and was also preceded in death by first wife, Clarene Moats; daughter, Connie Yates, brother, Kenneth Moats and mother-in-law, Irene Dalton. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Dalton Moats of Cleveland; children and spouses: Marlene Moats of Delano, Gary and Rhonda Moats of Delano, Larry and Tina Moats of Benton, Cindy and Ricky Johnson of Cleveland; step-children: Keith and Cindy Peels of Cleveland, Sonya and Steve Smith of Cleveland, Scottie and Loucretia Peels of Benton; father-in-law, Glenn Dalton of Cleveland; nineteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sony Moats of Delano and Clarence Moats of Cleveland; one sister, Audrey "Sis" Peters of McMinn County. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Eddie Hooker, Reverend Jack James and Reverend Gary Moats officiating. Interment will follow in Chestuee Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
