George Arthur Blankenship, Jr., 72, a resident of Ocoee, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Arthur Blankenship, Sr. and Ella Price Blankenship, one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Norwood, and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Blankenship of Ocoee; one daughter, Deborah Russell of Benton; two step-children: Edward Huckeba of Cleveland, and Sharon Garlin of Rome, GA; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three sisters: Bonnie Burgess, Beverly Burgess and Rita Price, all of Ocoee; one brother, Cecil Blankenship of Ocoee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Parm officiating. Interment will follow in Cookson Creek Cemetery concluding with a white dove release ceremony. His family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at the funeral home.
