Glenn E. Long, 62, of Benton, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home. He retired as a technician from Newell-Rubbermaid in May 2013. He was a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Julia Roberts Long. Survivors include his wife, Judy Cain Long; children, David Long and Darrell Long and wife, Catrina; special ex daughter-in-law, Ramona Cochran and husband, John; three grandchildren, Rachel Ellis, Will Long and Joseph Cochran; sister, Loretta Elrod and husband, James; brothers, Charles Long and wife, Jo and Mark Long and wife, Jennifer; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousin, Betty Locke; and special friend, Glenda Robinson. The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2013 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Guinn Green officiating. Interment will follow in Cookson Creek Cemetery with Steve Burns, Adrian Kirkpatrick, Zach Green, Jamie Moody, Mark Robinson and Walter Locke serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
