March 14, 1944 – February 7, 2006
Glenn Allen Norwood, age 61, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Norwood was the son of the late Joseph Allen and Ethel Key Norwood and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Novilla Norwood and Edith Tallent; two brothers, L.V. "Gloshie" Norwood and Joe Van Norwood.
He is survived by his special friend of fifteen years, Martha Hasting; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Randy Silvers of Old Fort; two grandchildren, Tabetha Silvers and Luke Silvers both of Old Fort; three sisters: Lenne Kirkland of Etowah, Pat Kirkland of Etowah and Barbara Prince of Dallas, GA; two brothers, Roger Norwood and wife, Theresa of Benton and Spence Norwood of Etowah; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service.
His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
