Grace Ledford Lawson, 92, former resident of Ocoee, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. She lived in the area all her life and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Ocoee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lee Lawson, who passed away in 1998; parents, James and Zone Goforth Ledford; children, Melba Sue Curbow and Bobby Lawson; sister, Mary Koza; and brothers, David Ledford, Hoyt Ledford and Clarence Ledford. She is survived by her children, Charles Lawson and wife, Myrtle of Cleveland, Alice Ross and husband, Gene of Cleveland and Peggy Firestone of Calhoun; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters, Elen Dunn of MI and Jennie West of Tellico; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend David Evans officiating. Interment will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Cookson Creek Cemetery with Michael Curbow, Phil Ross, Jeremy Ross, Tim Lawson, Chad Firestone and Maklain Lawson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
