Gregory “Greg” S. Brooks, 54, of Old Fort, passed way on September 2, 2026, at his home.
He was born on December 15, 1971, in Chattanooga, TN to Trony and JoAnn Ward Brooks.
Greg was of the Baptist faith and was a dedicated public servant in his community. A few of his roles included serving on the Polk County School Board, was a commissioner on the Polk County Commission, and served as Chairman on the county commission. He loved serving his community and always wanted the best for the people of Polk County. He was also a member of the Swaller Holler Swat Team and owned & operated East TN Lawn & Landscaping for many years. Greg was known by many and will be deeply missed.
Greg’s love for Polk County and its people was evident throughout his years of service, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family – especially his precious grandbabies. One never failed to see him that mention wasn’t made of his grandchildren, probably accompanied by an offer to show off their pictures. His years of service and commitment to the community he called home will be remembered.
as preceded in death by his brother, Todd Brooks; grandparents, Robert and Jessie Ward, and Bill and Jen Brooks.
Left to cherish the many memories include his parents, Trony and JoAnn Ward Brooks; son, Logan (Amanda) Brooks; daughters, Madison (Jake) Collis and Jenna (Robby) Gorman; grandson, Judson Collis; granddaughters, Juniper Collis, Decker Brooks, and Elliott Gorman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Maxwell and Sheriff Steve Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Dill Cemetery with Logan Brooks, Jake Collis, Robby Gorman, Dusty Hardin, Harmon Hardin and Zaden Branham serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Trony Brooks and Judson Collis.
His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.higginsfunerals.com.
