Irene Allen, 84, a resident of Benton, TN passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at a local healthcare facility. She loved all kinds of music but bluegrass was her favorite, loved to sing and could play any musical instrument. Irene loved her family, was always helping people and loved her church. She was co-owner of Allen Manufacturing Chair Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack G. Allen; son, Gary McPherson; step-son, Jack Edward Allen; step-daughter, Mitzi Creekmore; grandson, Anthony Bradford; parents, Lawrence Lafayette and Amanda Mae Williams and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Terri Bates, Darrell Bates and wife Cathy of Benton, TN; step-son, Mark Allen and wife Teresa of Delano, TN; grandchildren, Matthew and Jared Allen, Kenny and Amanda Bradford, Aaron Bradford, Landon and Bethany Brady, Joseph Allen, Gary Waters, Missy Bowman, Jodie Sitzler. Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Mason officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Benton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at the funeral home prior to the service.
