J. M. Trentham, 78, of Benton, TN passed away after a short illness at his residence on Monday, July 24, 2017. He loved to fish, meet his friends in town every evening and his dogs who were his constant companions, Rufus and Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Trentham and Della Trentham Woody; son, James Anthony Trentham; sisters, Mildred Nelms and Sue Pankey.

He is survived by his children, Brenda (Shane) Lowe, Willa Dean (Tony) Duggan, Charleen (Gary) Helton, Jeffrey Trentham, Scotty (Tonya) Trentham; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Bradford; brother, Dewey Trentham; half-sisters, Pat Matyas, Diane (Charlie) Womac, Donna (Mark) Smith, Carol McPherson; half-brothers, Eddie (Meritta) Trentham, Dennis Trentham, Kenneth Trentham, Greg Trentham. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN with the Reverend Eddie Trentham officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, TN.
