James Calvin Blankenship, age 72, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday, February 07, 2007 at the family residence. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Blankenship was the son of the late Henry and Shrinie Ann Blankenship and was also preceded in death by two brothers: Ace Blankenship and Grady Woods.

He is survived by his two children and spouses: Chris and Robert Yates and Kathy and Bobby Wilcoxon; special friend, Maxine McWhorter; mother of his children: Shirley Mowery Blankenship; grandson, Jason A. Wilcoxon; granddaughters: Rebecca L. Akins, Candice L. Wilcoxon, Whitney D. Wilcoxon and Kendra L. Wilcoxon; one brother, Doyle Blankenship of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Ball Play Baptist Church with Reverend Tyler Gentry officiating. Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Ball Play Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Ball Play Baptist Church prior to the service.
