James A. Hicks, 79, of Benton, TN passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at a Chattanooga hospital. He loved to hunt and fish and motorcycle ride. He was an avid bird watcher and made many bird houses through the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leana Presswood Hicks; daughter, Teresa Mantooth; parents, James L. and Velma Nola Pike Hicks; brothers, Arlie Hicks and R. D. Hicks.

He is survived by his children, Troy (Kelly) Hicks of Benton, TN, Donna Climer of Cleveland, TN, Tammy (Donnie) Moore of Decatur, TN; grandchildren, Jared Hicks, Holly Moore, Kayla (Clay) Thomas, Austin Leight, Tyler Leight, Jeffery Davis; sisters, Clara (William) Peels, Ruth (Rusty) Mendenhall, Edna (Jerry) Freeman; brothers, Lake (Trudy) Hicks, L.C. (Janey) Hicks. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Cheatham officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Cambria Baptist Church cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home.
