James Robert Presswood, 93, of the Oak Grove Community, Benton, departed this life on February 3, 2025.

He was born on April 5, 1931, in Benton, Tennessee to the late Elzie and Essie Maynor Presswood. James was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Cpl. in communications. Returning home in 1954, he married Marian Bailey, daughter of Everett and Pearl Porter Bailey, and continued his unit operator training and work with TVA. They spent 10 years at John Sevier Steam Plant in Rogersville, Tennessee. He returned home to Polk County in 1964, and with a partner, operated their own business in Radio and TV Sales and Service. James had a passion for being an Amateur Radio operator, which was something he enjoyed all his life. He was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where his grandfather, Rev. Robert Presswood served as the first pastor.

In addition to his parents, Elzie and Essie Maynor Presswood, he was preceded by his siblings, Burch and Audrey.

Left to cherish the many memories include his loving wife, of 70 years, Marian Bailey Presswood; adored daughters, Robbi (Dean) Moorhouse and Rebecca Parker; grandchildren, Joey Moorhouse, Scott Parker, Bailey Parker, and Colleen Parker; great grandson, Rowan James Parker; sisters, June Brackett and Sue Gregg. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Reverend Joel Jenkins officiating. Dean Moorhouse, Joey Moorhouse and Ralph Brackett will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends will gather from 12:00 (noon) to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home.
