James Earl Shelton, 57, a lifelong resident of Wetmore, went home to meet his Lord and to be reunited with loved ones on Saturday, May 24, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Ernest and Beulah Shelton; adoptive parents, Monroe and Ina Shelton; brother and sister-in-law, Cleetis and Wanda Shelton; nephews: Rex Allen Shelton, Garrett Croft and great nephew, Christian Matthew Akins Sneed.
He is survived by his sister, Kathy Shaw of Delano; sister and brother-in-law, Jerry and Carolyn Croft of Delano; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Hazel Shelton of Etowah and Winston and Irene Shelton of Delano; special niece, Janie Wyrick and husband, Gregg Wyrick of Etowah; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Pat McCullough and the Reverend Doyle Lloyd officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Delano Cemetery with Justin Shaw, Nick Croft, Jeremy White, Timothy Harrison, Josh Debord and Jeffery Sneed serving as pallbearers. Adam Hawkins will serve as honorary pallbearer. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

His family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
