John L. Grady, MD, 87, a resident of Benton, TN passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was a well know physician and practiced in Etowah and Copperhill for 25 years and devoted 42 years to the medical profession. He was a veteran of the US Navy and flew Cougar Jets off the Midway carrier during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Joseph and Bertha Ann Snyder Grady; siblings, Bertha Masters, Louise Calaluca, Joseph Grady and Leo Grady.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol Jones Grady; children, Alice Handley (Brad) of Knoxville, TN, Joe Grady (Joanna) of Clarksville, TN and James Grady of Etowah, TN; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Jones, Andrew Grady Jones, John Grady, Thomas Grady, Anthony Joseph Grady, MD (Rebecca), Patrick Paul Grady, Clare Isabella Grady and Anna Maria Grady; great grandchild, Blaise Joseph Grady. Several extended family members also survive.

A Requiem Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the chapel of Christ Prince of Peace Retreat Center, 250Locke Lane, Benton, TN with Father David Carter officiating and Father David Mary coordinating the services. Rite of Christian burialwill follow in the Resurrection Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Christ Prince of Peace Retreat Center and from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 prior to the service.
