John Randall Nelms, 58, of Benton, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was preceded in death by his, mother, Mildred Trentham Nelms, brother, Swan (Ud) Nelms. He is survived by his father Charles L. Nelms of Cleveland, two daughters, Kalin Nelms of Benton and Keirsten Johnson of Benton; brother, George Nelms and wife JoAnn of Benton and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend David Qualls and the Reverend Quinn Green officiating. Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery with Tommy Swann, Don Duggan, Roy Keith, Charles Bradford, Ralph Nelms and Chuck Nelms serving as pallbearers. A white dove release will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11,2012 at the funeral home.
