IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnnie Bob
Guthrie
March 11, 1933 – June 21, 2025
Johnnie Bob Guthrie, 92, went peacefully on Saturday morning, June 21, 2025, at Hospice Inpatient Care of Chattanooga.
She was born on March 11, 1933, to Della Cronan Ray and Fate Cronan.
Mrs. Guthrie was a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she played the piano, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was always involved in children's choir. She loved her church and church family with all her heart and was a faithful member of the Eastern Star, Garden Club, and enjoyed flea-marketing as an avid collector of antiques along with beautiful lamps and other antiques. She loved tending to her garden at home and enjoyed traveling the world with Mr. Tommy.
Mrs. Johnnie, worked and retired for the USDA. She enjoyed her job and had a tremendous amount of pride in helping the farmers to the best of her ability. Over the years, the farmers became like family to her and always considered their friendships a blessing.
A matriarch she was, loving her family and friends with all her heart and always put on a "show" at gatherings, regardless of the occasion. Making people laugh brought constant joy to her heart. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to have known her but through their sadness of loss, they rejoice in knowing she is in her Heavenly home, telling God what to do and laughing while catching up with her husband, family, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Della Cronan Ray and Fate Cronan, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas "Tommy" Guthrie; siblings that met her in Heaven, Chandler, William, Lennis, Nash, Sam, Rex, Oleta, and Mitchell. She was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved so much.
Left to cherish the many memories include her daughter, Pam (Bill) Ellis; stepdaughter, Brenda (Randy) Elder; grandson, Charlie (Beverly) Campbell; granddaughter, Lori Campbell (Tommy) Keeble; great-grandchildren, Ellie Campbell, Kennedy Keeble, and Kingston Keeble; step great-grandchildren, Mandy Booth, Kassi (Brian) Thomas, Gunnar Booth, Oliver Booth, and Ava Thomas. Several extended family members and a community of friends also survive.
A graveside committal service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Benton Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Charles Cheatham officiating. Tony Cronan, Max Cronan, Daryl Cronan, Zack Akins, Alex Akins, and Michael Woody will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Charlie and Beverly Campbell, along with her great-granddaughter, Ellie Campbell for their compassionate and devoted care.
