Joseph R. "Joe" Ledford, 79, of Delano, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was retired from Combustion where he was a truck driver. Joe was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Delano Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Blanche O'Kelly Ledford; son, Michael Ledford; grandson, Michael Christopher Brown; father-in-law, H.B. Jenkins; and nephews, Larry Jenkins and Travis Jenkins. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jenkins Ledford; daughter, Ginger Brown and husband, Chris; two special grandchildren, Stephen and Ashli Brown; mother-in-law, Genora Jenkins, brothers-in-law, Larry Jenkins and wife, Darla and Bobby Jenkins and wife, Sula; sisters-in-law, Gloria Johnson and husband, Bobby and Vickie Bryan and husband, Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Delano Baptist Church with the Reverend John Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Delano Cemetery with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home and from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service.
