Kimberly Mitchell, 56, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on July 26, 2024, at a Chattanooga hospital with her family at her side.

She was born on September 8, 1967, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late George K. and Betty Jo Taylor Thomason.

Throughout life, Kim always had a loving heart, caring for each one who was blessed by her presence. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, having cherished every moment she had to be with those she loved. A few of her fondest memories include the joy of gardening and growing flowers as well as worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ with her church family at Chestuee Worship Center. Loved by all who knew her, she will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, George and Betty Jo Thomason, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Eugene Thomason.

Left to cherish the many memories include her loving husband of 35 years, Jimmy D. Mitchell; children, Brittany (Benjamin) Jett, Ryan (Amy) Mitchell, and Zachary Mitchell; cherished grandchildren, Aiden Jett, Silas Jett, Esperanza Mitchell, and Isabella Mitchell; one sister, Karen Deason. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.

A Remembrance of Life funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Chestuee Worship Center, with Pastor Jacky Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Chestuee Cemetery, with her family serving as pallbearers.

Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
