IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry J.
Lewis
February 17, 1946 – November 27, 2025
Larry John Lewis, 79, a lifelong resident of Benton, went home to be with Jesus on November 27, 2025.
He was born on February 17, 1946, in Benton, Tennessee, to the late Reverend Virgil "Jack" Lewis and Nell Lewis.
Larry was a loving and patient man of God, and his gentle spirit was evident in every role he held—as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His joy grew even deeper when he became "Papaw" to his special girls, Courtney and Lacey Farr. Watching him cherish that role was a blessing to all who knew him. After retiring from Frucon Construction Company at Olin Chemicals, he fully embraced being a full-time Papaw, happily driving his girls wherever they needed and wanted to go. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam and Germany. He carried himself with humility, never seeking recognition for his service or accomplishments. Though often a man of few words, he had a gift for humor and could surprise anyone with a perfectly timed, sly comment.
He was a man of Baptist faith, a devoted believer in Jesus his Savior, and he was ready to be reunited in heaven with many loved ones who went before him.
Greeting Larry in heaven are his parents; his siblings, Vernon "Corky" Lewis, Helen Ramsey, Ronnie Lewis, and Jimmy Lewis; two brothers-in-law, Ogle Ingram and Whitey Ramsey; and many other cherished family members.
He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Lena Lewis; his daughters, Ann Hooper (Robert), Sandy Ellis (David), and Ginger Farr (Jason); seven grandchildren, Joseph (Kristi) Ellis, Brittani (Steve) Thompson, Mary (Hank) Parker, Mazie (Jeremy) Bivens, Maggie (Major) Carter, Courtney (Sheadan) Berry, Lacey Farr; six great-grandchildren, Cambree Prueitt, DJ and Frankie Ellis, Kate and Griffin Parker, Aliza Bivens; sister, Jackie Ingram; brother, H.R. Lewis; sisters-in-law Joanne Lewis, Anne-Marie Lewis, and Charlene Lewis; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Blood Assurance; Formulated Solutions for coordinating blood drives on his behalf; Bradley Medical Infusion Center; TN Oncology Lab; all doctors, nurses, and treatment-room staff; and every member of the care team who supported Larry with love throughout his illness. Larry formed many meaningful friendships during his treatments over the last year, and the prayers, encouragement, and compassion shared among them were truly God-sent.
Special thanks are also given to Suncrest Home Health for their wonderful care at home and to Hearth Hospice for bringing peace, comfort, and the gentle presence of God into his final days. The family also deeply appreciates the support and care provided by the VA.
