Layton Jay Hobbs, 65, of East Ridge, departed this life on December 17, 2021, at his residence.
He was born on August 13, 1956, to the late Otto Isaac and Marietta Newberry Hobbs. Layton was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church in Chattanooga.
Throughout life, Layton had a strong love for his family and friends. He enjoyed every moment they were all together and the bond they each shared. He learned of his talent of being gifted as an exceptional painter and with his brother Clayton, successfully operated their family business. In addition to his talent of being a painter, he was also a talented guitarist, playing music with multiple bands around the Music City area. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, Otto and Marietta Hobbs, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Sloop, Dorothy Swanson, and Kathy Swanson.
Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved siblings, Evelyn (Mack) Carruth and Clayton Hobbs; niece, Pam (Richard) Adams; nephew, Jeff Carruth; great nieces, Amy Boyland and Tiffany Bailey. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Thursday, December 30, 2021, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor, Dr. Robert Speights officiating.
Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.
