Lonnie Lawson Jones, 80, of McMinnville, Tennessee, formally of Cleveland, passed away on February 13, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 6, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Brandon and Mary Hutson Jones.
Lonnie spent many years as a sales manager for Baynes Business Machine. He was active in the Bradley Central High School Marching Band Booster Club and enjoyed watching them perform, which is where his children attended school.
Lonnie attended Central Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for 20 years. He also attended Blue Ridge Georgia Church of Christ, where his son was a minister, Union Grove Church of Christ, and Eastside Church of Christ. While living in Cleveland, he was active in his church work. In addition, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Brandon and Mary Hudson Jones, he was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie "Lonnieboy" Jones; daughter, Lori Jones Mull; sisters, Frances Tallant, and Gloria Sparkman; nephews, Michael Jones, and Paul Sparkman
Left to cherish the many memories include his wife of 60 years, Margaret Haskins Jones; grandchildren, Daniel E. (Bailey) Jones, and Allyson Jones; brother, Larry (Frances) Jones brothers-in-law, Ronald Sparkman, and Dan Haskins; sisters-in-law, Sue (Alan) Franks, and Roseann (Buster) Yates. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Minister Kevin Key, Aaron Matthews, and Scott Boring officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with his friends serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
