Marie Higgins, age 69,lifelong resident of Benton, passed away Friday evening. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made everyone welcome who came into her home. She and her late husband, Owen Higgins, ran a dairy farm and were chosen most successful farmers of the year in the mid-sixties. She loved farming and raised beef cattle. Prior to her illness she was employed at Crystal Geyser Water company. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Horrace and Addie Sue Lee Burchfield; sons, Dudley and David Higgins; daughter, Connie Higgins; sister, Mae Ballew and brother, Lake Burchfield. She is survived by her son Mickey Higgins; grandchildren, Jeremiah and April Higgins, Nicholas Higgins, and Craig Powell, Micheala Park; great-grandchildren, Preston, Peyton, and Kiley Higgins; sisters, Margaret Hill, Josephine Burchfield, and Jacqueline Cimino; brother, Boyd Burchfield; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday evening in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with her brother-in-law Jack Higgins officiating.
