Lorraine Brackett Beavers, 89, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 in a Chattanooga hospital. She was a lifelong member Blue Ridge Temple Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. Mrs. Beavers was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel "Ed" Beavers; her son, Gary Beavers and her parents, Thomas and Ora Baxter Brackett. She is survived by her children: Leon Beavers (Edna) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Steve Beavers (Gwen), Connie Mull all of Old Fort, Alton Beavers of Old Fort; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Beavers, Jr., Reverend Jimmy Parm officiating; the eulogy will be conducted by Karen Howard. Interment will follow at Dill Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
