Minnie Marie Tallent, 96, a lifelong resident of Benton, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at her residence. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents Christopher and Ella Keith; two sons: Benny Smith and Jerry Powell; one daughter Nina Callahan; two brothers: Gene Keith and Major Keith; two sisters Bonnie Wood and Pearl Triplett. Survivors include her daughter, May Shelfer; one sister, Mabel Triplett; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Reverend Tony Duggan officiating. Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 1-3p.m., Wednesday prior to the service.
