Nancy Sue Smith McDonald, 67, of Benton, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at her residence. She was a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee "Sonny" McDonald, Jr. and father, James Lark Smith. She is survived by her mother, Grace Goins Smith of Benton; children, Andy McDonald and wife, Debra and Aaron McDonald, all of Benton; five grandchildren, Jessica Roe and Amanda Cross, both of Cleveland and Andrew Cross, Heather McDaniel and Tony McDonald, all of Benton; five great grandchildren, Lily Cross, Piper Roe, Autumn Fessler, Carly Fessler and Carson McDaniel; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Warren of Benton and Christine Wood of Delano; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Valley Baptist Church with the Reverend David Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home and on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
