Naomi Hamby Johnson, 95, a resident of Benton, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 in an Etowah hospital. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Benton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Hamby and Polly Ann Payne Hamby; husband Harrison Johnson; brothers: Reidel Hamby, Naman Hamby, Mart Hamby and Lester Hamby; sisters: Lela Eller and Wyomie Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter Mavis Ward and husband,Ronnie of Benton; 3 grandchildren: Jill Swafford and husband, Buddy of Old Fort and Jeff Ward and wife, Michelle of Benton and Kiley Ward of Benton; 4 great grandchildren: Russ Swafford and Logan Swafford of Old Fort, Dylan Ward and Dustin Ward of Benton; 1 sister Edith Blackwell of Benton, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Whitehead officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 10:00A.M. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Benton. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
