Arthur "Newell" Cummings, 74, a lifelong resident of Benton, departed this life on December 4, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on July 26, 1951, in Benton, Tennessee to the late Arthur Newt Cummings and Lois Senia Cummings.

He was a graduate of Polk County High School, later serving in the U.S. Army, and was a welder at trade.  Newell has a passion for music and was a talented guitarist.

In addition to his parents, Newt and Lois Cummings, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ernestine Plumley Cummings; siblings, Thelma (Joe) Kolar, Kenneth (Ethel) Howard, and Judy (Paul) Wilson.

Left to cherish the many memories include his three children, Stephanie, Senia, and Matt; two grandchildren, Katie Mashburn and Josh Mashburn; daughter-in-law, Jenny; son-in-law, Jesse; one sister, Linda (Howard) Lynch; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home of Benton. Interment will follow at Delano Cemetery with Josh Mashburn, Jesse Mashburn, Matthew Plumley, Tim Lynch, Jarred Serrano, and Ernest Ramos serving as pallbearers.
