Frances Rose Woody, 83, a resident of Benton, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 in an Etowah hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Benton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady Rose and Alma Frazier Rose; sister, Evelyn Vestal and brother, Kenneth Rose.

She is survived by her husband, of 51 years, W. Jasper Woody of Benton; daughters: Cynthia Cox and husband, Brian of Knoxville, Jennifer Palecek and husband, Jim of Gardiner, MT; 3 grandchildren: Brady Cox, Logan Cox and Sarah Palecek; brothers: Charles Rose of Ocoee, Jim Rose and wife, Cathy of Cleveland; sisters: Loy Baxter of Old Fort, Mary Jo Sherlin and husband, D.A, Polly Hooker and husband, Eddie, Billie Wilson and husband, Jerry, Connie Redman and husband, Frank , all of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Thelma Woody; brother-in-law, James Wood and wife, Mary of Benton; sisters-in-law: Golda Jones of Cleveland, Lorene Beard of Benton, Debbie Carver and husband, Dean of Benton, Carol Pirtle and husband, Ken of Decatur, AL and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 in the Christian Activities Building of the First Baptist Church in Benton with the Reverend Robbie Speights and the Reverend Jasper Woody officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Benton Memorial Gardens with the Adult Men's Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers. The services will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.

Her family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at the church.
