IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reba
Burgess
February 16, 1931 – December 24, 2025
Reba Joyce "Spence" Burgess, a lifelong resident of Benton, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, at her residence.
She was born on February 16, 1931, in Benton, TN., to the late James Frances and Mary Mae Cassade Spence. She was a preschool Sunday school teacher and member of Benton Station Baptist Church, where at the time of her death she was the oldest living member. Reba was a fond flower gardener and some of her fondest memories come from the times bird watching.
For many years, she worked alongside her husband operating Burgess Grocery and later Burgess Feed & Farm. Their hard work and commitment to customer service helped them throughout their many years of business.
In addition to her parents, James F. and Mary Spence, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Easley Henry Burgess; siblings, James Frances "Junior" Spence, Ruth Jean Woody, and Margaret Elaine Fulbright.
Left to cherish the many memories include her beloved children, Steve (Dana) Burgess, Diane (Joel) Wood, David Burgess, and Lynn (Deborah) Burgess; grandchildren, Stephanie (Greg) Everett, Cindy (Andy) Blevins, Andy (Renee) Wood, Rachel (Shea) Massengale, Rhonda (Curtis) Byrd, Brady (Chelsea) Wood, Josh Burgess, Keisha (Ricky) Hamby, Dylan (Melissa) Burgess, Derek Burgess, and Timothy Burgess; 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A graveside committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
