Reverend "Sonny" Clyde Moats, 87, a resident of Cleveland, passed away, Monday, February 25, 2013 at a Chattanooga hospice facility. He was a member of Ocoee Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche Moats; parents; General and Lizzy Moats; sons, Michael, LaVaughn and Danny Moats; grandson, Brandon Moats and brothers, Kennith and G. W. Moats. He is survived by his children; Archie Moats, Golda and Russell Coward, Edward and Brenda Moats, and Thelma and Diego Valencia, all of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Moats and sister, Audrey Peters. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Chestuee Baptist Church, located in the Chestuee Community in Polk Co. with the Reverend Jim Smith and the Reverend Gary Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Chestuee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Higgins Funeral Home and on Thursday from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. at Chestuee Baptist Church prior to the service.
