Robert "Johnny" William McDonald, 88, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in a Chattanooga hospital. He retired with Maytag. He attended Little Conasauga Baptist Church in Crandall, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cleo Burris McDonald; parents, Robert and Lucy Morgan McDonald; brothers, Robert, Walter and Jim McDonald; and sisters, Sue Moorhouse, Kate Long, Alice Moorhouse, Blanche McDonald, Dorothy Bishop and Louise Bates. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Sweeney of Benton; granddaughters, Tabitha Holder and husband, Doug and Tonya Wilson, all of Benton; great granddaughter, Angela Wilson of Benton; sisters, Edna Link and Mary Lou Franks, both of Benton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton with the Reverend Herbert Fansler and the Reverend Rick Woody officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with Johnny Townsend, Andy McDonald, Jeff Stacy, Labron Anderson, James Townsend and Stacy Holder serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron McDonald and Dewayne Kirksey. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
