Ronny Gene Raines, 74, of Monticello, Georgia, departed this life peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022, with his family at his side.
He was born on November 11, 1947, in Athens, Tennessee to the late J.P. and Stella Pearl Lewis Raines. Throughout life, Ronny was a self-employed contractor in the pipeline construction industry and always devoted his efforts to the highest of level while exceeding as an entrepreneur. He developed a passion for spending time outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman. A few of his fondest memories include spending time with his beloved family and being on his farm with his cattle that he faithfully cared for and gardened that he felt blessed to be able to call home.
He was a friend to many, a true servant of God, and faithfully cared for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, J.P. and Stella Raines, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Raines, Mary Frances Harris, Charles Raines, Freddie Raines, and Clayton Raines; one brother-in-law, Paul Green.
Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Margie Rymer Raines; loving daughters, Rhonda Raines and Robyn (Russell) Hull; cherished grandchildren, Robert P. (Brittany) Murphy, Skylar M. Murphy, Stella M. Hull, and Ruby R. Hull; siblings, Don Raines, Johnny (Patsy) Raines, Jane Green, Teresa (Sim) Kibble, and Jaquelin (Larry) Gaston; and special friends, Joshua Denny and Wayne Cooper. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, with his family serving as pallbearers.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
