Ruth Ann Johnson Hampton, 87, a life long resident of Benton, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at her home. She was a seamstress for different manufacturing companies and secretary for her husband in the Register of Deeds office in Polk County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Stella Russell Johnson; sister, Erma Lane; and brother, Herbert Craig. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Hampton of Benton; children, Mary Patrick and Judy Hampton; grandchildren, Judith Nelson, Jennifer Crews and Tim Patrick; great grandchildren, Lauren Putnam, Hayley DuPre, Mary Ellyn DuPre, Michael Nelson, Katie Patrick and Carrie Patrick; brother, Dale Craig; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Jasper Woody officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
