Ruth Spence Woody, 80, a lifelong resident of Benton Station, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in a McMinn County healthcare facility. She was a member of Benton Station Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. She was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mae Cassada Spence; sister, Elaine Fulbright; and brother, James Spence. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marion Woody of Benton Station; son, Herman Woody and wife, Corkey of Benton; grandchildren, Cheryl Gregory and husband, Joey of Benton, Eric Woody and wife, Kari of Benton and Angie Epperson of Cleveland; great grandchildren, Trip Eric Ace Woody and Gracie Epperson; sister, Reba Burgess and husband Easley of Benton; brothers-in-law, Wayne Woody and Dewey Woody; sister-in-law, Bobby Spence; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Joel Jenkins officiating. Interment will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
